LATROBE Valley baseball leaders the Traralgon Redsox defeated the undermanned Sale Rangers 35-0 at Stephenson Park on Sunday.
The Redsox hitters combined for 24 hits. Owen Godenzi led the way with seven runs batted in on three hits with a single and two huge home runs. Damien Goodman was strong on the pitcher’s mound, holding the Rangers scoreless for the entire game.
The Rangers’ best players were Keiran Donoghue and Tristan Standing.
IN a preview of the preliminary final next weekend, the Churchill Braves and Moe-Newborough Dodgers drew 3-3.
Dodger Jason Smith and the Braves’ Mat Prior held the game scoreless for four innings with stellar performances on the mound until Prior added the first run off an RBI single which scored Tim Bellerby.
The Dodgers answered with two runs in the sixth to take the lead only to have the Braves reply with another to level the score again.
The Dodgers added one more in the seventh to edge ahead once more, this was the way it remained until the ninth when the Braves hit back to level again.
THE Sale Rangers will finish their season this Sunday away against Moe-Newborough. Churchill will play Traralgon at Morwell.
