Magpies aiming for back-to-back

SALE and Morwell will square off in what should be a tight Gippsland League netball grand final on Saturday at Morwell.

In their third successive grand final, the Magpies will be aiming for back-to-back premierships.

While the Tigers only beat the Magpies to the minor premiership by two points, Sale did win both clashes during the home-and-away season.

The Magpies have won their past five matches, while the Tigers have only won one of their past four matches.

Two weeks ago, the Magpies defeated the Tigers in the second semi-final by 12 goals. Among the stars that day were Kate Eddy in defence and Lara Dunkley in attack.

Goal attack Jen Duncan was the Tigers’ best player in their preliminary final victory over Moe.

IN a rematch of last year’s grand final, Maffra will meet Traralgon in the under 13s.

Undefeated this season, the Eagles will be looking to go one better on Saturday.

Finishing in fifth place on the ladder, the Maroons have qualified for the grand final the hard way.

TRARALGON and Moe will meet in the B grade and under 17 and 15 grand finals, while the Maroons will play Morwell in C grade.

Saturday at Morwell Recreation Reserve:

A grade: Sale v Morwell, 3pm.

B grade: Traralgon v Moe, 1.30pm.

C grade: Traralgon v Morwell, 12.15pm.
