Aces win Maffra derby

THE Maffra Aces defeated the Maffra Queens in a Wellington tennis local derby last Saturday.

The Aces recorded their first victory of the season 69 games to 51. The Aces won seven of the nine rubbers.

The Queens were not outclassed, winning at least six games in six of the rubbers.

In the closest rubber, the Aces’ Jamie Kemp and Natalie Allman needed a tiebreak to overcome Phil Carter and Alecia Dignan 9-8.

Allman, Kemp and Jenny Luke won their three matches.

SEASPRAY defeated Heyfield in a tight contest, 59-55.

The visitor won six rubbers to three, with Tim Dunnett and Lisa Harrison winning their three matches.

WITH limited players available, Sale X Factor defeated Sale Big Brother 21-17. X Factor won two of the three rubbers.

THE Maffra Kings had the bye.

ON Saturday, Seaspray will host Sale Big Brother, the Maffra Queens will play another local derby, this time against the undefeated Kings, and Sale X Factor will host Heyfield. The Maffra Aces will have the bye.
