Redbacks teach Collegians T20 lesson

STRATFORD has won its second Sale-Maffra twenty20 cricket title in three seasons.

The Redbacks made light work of Collegians in the final on Tuesday night.

Collegians won the toss and elected to bat but got off to a disastrous start, with Cormack Hassett producing a direct hit run out to send Matt Foster on his way.

The Collegians innings never really got going, posting 9-85. David Ramsden top-scored with 17, while Nick Grainger, Elliott Cafferkey and Kerrod Macgregor-Davies also managed to reach double figures.

Spinner Jack Rietschel continued his good form with the ball, claiming 3-22, while Chris Aurisch returned the figures of 2-13. Jack Tatterson and Zac Penn were the other wicket takers.

In Stratford’s response, Taylor Tatterson fell early, with Kerrod Macgregor-Davies getting the early breakthrough.

Hassett, 44, and Jack Tatterson, 33 not out, comfortably guided the Redbacks home, passing the required total with eight overs to spare.
