SALE’S Rhys Carter claimed his second National Basketball League championship ring on Sunday.
Carter was a member of the New Zealand Breakers side which defeated the Cairns Taipans in the grand final series.
The success came after Carter was on the losing side of the two previous NBL grand final series.
On Friday night in Cairns, the Breakers won the first game of the series 98-71. Carter scored 12 points in almost 20 minutes on court.
On Sunday in Auckland, the Taipans worked hard to force a third and deciding game. Scores were level with less than a second remaining when Ekene Ibekwe scored to give the Breakers an 83-81 victory and their fourth NBL title in five seasons.
Carter contributed two points in almost 19 minutes on court.
Carter previously won an NBL title with the South Dragons in 2009.
