A 26-7 second quarter proved the difference as Churchill defeated Maffra in the Country Basketball League women’s semi-final on Saturday night.
After leading 16-9 at quarter-time at home, the Eagles found themselves trailing by 12 points at half-time.
The Eagles reduced the deficit to eight by the end of the third term, but the Blue Devils responded with an 18-13 final term to win 65-52.
Sam Labros posted 21 points for the visitors, with Tanarly Hood contributing 16 and Casey Sherriff 15.
For the Eagles, Kate Bond scored 16 points, including four three-pointers.
In the grand final this Saturday night, Churchill will meet Traralgon, which upset top side Korumburra 67-53. Chelsea D’Angelo scored 29 points for the T-Birds.
The men’s grand final will be between Churchill and Moe.
Churchill inflicted the first loss of the season on Warragul with a 72-69 victory.
Moe needed overtime to overcome Traralgon 98-89.
Both grand finals will be played at Traralgon.
