Cricket becomes victim of weather

ALL play in the Sale-Maffra Cricket Association was cancelled on Saturday afternoon.

The condition of grounds caused by heavy rain leading up to Saturday and the forecast of more that afternoon led the SMCA to abandon play.

All first, second and third grade matches, scheduled to be two-day fixtures, will be played under one-day conditions this Saturday, while fourth grade matches were declared draws.

The home grounds of Collegians, Sale and Rosedale-Kilmany were ruled out for play, while there would have been a late start at Stephenson Park if there was no more rain. Other grounds had wet outfields, potentially making it dangerous for fielding.
