Sharks out of title contention

SALE-Maffra’s hopes for back-to-back Melbourne Country Week cricket premierships are over, after a loss to Mornington Peninsula on Wednesday.

The Sharks were bowled out for just 82 in the match at Oakleigh reduced to 31 over per side because of wet weather.

Mornington scored 6-175 with Daniel Warwick scoring 53 and Matt Foon 48. Jack Tatterson claimed three wickets for Sale-Maffra.

Early wickets had the Sharks on the back foot, with their innings ending on 82 after 22 overs. Bohdi Walker scored 20 at the top of the order, Tatterson made 14 and Ben Jones 26.

Andrew Tweddle ripped through the Sale-Maffra top order, finishing with five wickets.

The Sharks will finish their campaign on Thursday against Traralgon at Footscray.
