SALE-Maffra had a second disappointing batting performance in a row to conclude its Melbourne Country Week cricket campaign.
On Thursday at Footscray, the Sharks were bowled out for 97 in reply to Traralgon’s 6-209.
The Sharks finished with one win from four matches.
Traralgon had a solid start to its innings, with a 98-run opening stand and 53 for the second wicket, but the Sharks were able to restrict the runs late but taking wickets.
Opening batsman Brad Wadlan scored 82, while Ben Jones and Jack Wrigglesworth claimed two wickets each for Sale-Maffra.
That was as good as it got for the Sharks, who found themselves 4-6 with David Embleton (3-30) and Josh Sandy (2-4) ripping through the top order. Josh Rurawhe was the only batsmen in the top four to register a score.
Josh Davis was the first Sale-Maffra batsman to reach double figures, but was soon dismissed for 12, leaving his side 6-39.
Jake Benfield, who top-scored with 28, tried his best to give the innings some respectability, while Wrigglesworth (14) and Simon Cafferkey (17) put on 29 for the final wicket.
Ross Whelpdale took 3-41 for Traralgon.
