Gippsland gets better of Sale

GIPPSLAND inflicted the first loss on Sale for the Regional Victoria Netball League season, winning the 19 and under clash 63-37.

With both sides undefeated going into the match, Gippsland led by seven goals at the first break before pushing its lead further to win by 26.

D. Hill scored 31 goals in only three quarters.

This Friday night at Churchill, Sale will play North Gippsland, which last week recorded its first win of the season, defeating Pakenham 50-48.

Pakenham led by five goals at the first break, with North Gippsland reducing the deficit to four by half-time. North Gippsland chipped away further into the margin during the third quarter, heading into the final term trailing by three.

Pakenham struggled in the final seven minutes, scoring only two goals as North Gippsland shot eight to win by two goals.

Mid Gippsland had the bye.

IN the open competition, Mid Gippsland was too powerful for Morwell Indoor, winning 65-28.

Mid Gippsland began strongly to lead 18-7 at quarter-time. Morwell was consistent, scoring seven goals each quarter, but couldn’t stop the powerhouse.

Mid Gippsland coach Tanya Budge was best-on-court, while Taylin Gourley scored 52 goals from 66 attempts.

Another Gourley sister was on fire in the next match, with Ramayer scoring 48 goals from 62 attempts in Gippsland’s 64-47 victory over East Gippsland.
