A SALE Fire Brigade team won the under 17 aggregate title at the Volunteer Fire Brigades Victoria Urban Junior Championships at Tatura last weekend.
The Sale A team of Angus Treglown, Gil Aitken, Connor Hodges and Isaac Telfer was crowned the champion in its age group following the event at Tatura.
In the Y coupling four-competitor event, the Sale team emerged victorious. Aitken won the one-competitor event, and was joined by Hodges in coming fourth in the two-competitor.
Aitken won the under 17 one-competitor hydrant race. Aitken and Hodges finished second in the two-competitor race.
In the under 17 wet hose four-competitor events, Sale won striking one disc twice race and fourth in the striking second disc.
Overall, the Sale brigade came second in the dry aggregate, third in the wet aggregate and second in the grand aggregate.
Maffra also sent competitors to the championships.
The team of Jack Hargreaves and Matt Alen won the under 17 wet hose two-competitor race, and came second in the marshall two-competitor.
Jamie Rohrlach, Tia Hone, Riley Hemperger and Mikeely Hone came fourth in the under 14 wet hose striking one disc twice race for four competitors.
The championships attracted more than 700 competitors from across Victoria, as well as Western Australia.
Events were designed to build fitness, dexterity, confidence and practical firefighting skills in the young CFA volunteers.
