Round one loss for Swans

SALE United began the Latrobe Valley Soccer League season with a 3-2 loss to Traralgon Olympians.

Goals from Josh Deschepper and Kristian Phillips were not enough for last year’s runner-up at Traralgon on Sunday, as Alradi Ali, Jamie Pistrin and Jeremy Sanchez scored to give the home side victory.

In the reserves, Sale drew with Olympians 1-1, while the home side won the second division match 3-2.

The LVSL will break for the Labour Day long weekend, and resume on March 20 with Sale travelling to Tyers. The Swans’ first home game of the season is the weekend after Easter, on April 3 against Trafalgar Victory.

Last weekend was a good one for Traralgon clubs in the senior grade, with Traralgon City defeating Monash 2-1 at Newborough, thanks to a late goal from substitute Jordan Walton.

With an influx of new players, Pegasus defeated Tyers 2-0 in Morwell.

Mark Fairbrother scored two goals to help Newborough-Yallourn United defeat Fortuna 4-2 away.

Moe United had a thumping 11-1 win over East Gippsland United, which finished the match with 10 men, in Bairnsdale.

Churchill United knocked over Trafalgar 2-0 at home.

Champion Falcons had the bye.
