Good fortune for United

SALE United on Sunday recorded its first win in the Latrobe Valley Soccer League regular season since early April.

The Swans defeated third-placed Fortuna 5-1 at home. The win moves them into eighth place on the table.

With the home side leading 2-1 at half-time, the match was in the balance, but the Swans netted three second half goals to rediscover the winning touch.

Slade Whifield, Nick Buckhoreelall, Nathi Khamchom, Kieran Horgan and Jon Piefke scored the Swans, while Ivan Vekic scored for Fortuna.

CHURCHILL made the most of Fortuna’s slip-up, claiming third place after a 2-0 home victory over East Gippsland United.

While the victory ended a run of two defeats, the Rams put in a lacklusture performance against the bottom side.

A SECOND half goal from Joe Baldwin was enough to give ladder leader Moe United victory over Falcons.

In one of the matches of the season, Moe keeper Peter Albanese made a series of saves to ensure a clean sheet.

MONASH recorded its fifth win in six matches, defeating Pegasus 5-1. A three-goal first half blitz set-up the victory.

SECOND-placed Newborough-Yallourn United scored three first half goals, including two from Brandon Scott, to defeat Tyers 3-0.

TRARALGON City had a 4-0 win against Trafalgar Victory.

TRARALGON Olympians had the bye.

SALE United will travel to Newborough to take on in-form Monash, which is two ahead of the Swans on the ladder.

Moe will host Churchill in the match of the round, while NYU will welcome Trafalgar.

Tyers will play Traralgon opposition for the second consecutive week, away to Olympians. Traralgon City will host Falcons.

Pegasus will be confident of victory when it plays East Gippsland in Bairnsdale.

Fortuna will have the bye.
