Racing today

THERE is another strong eight-race meeting scheduled at Greenwattle Racecourse today.

The meeting begins at 1.30pm with a maiden plate over 1100 metres where the well-bred Bonnieux looks well placed. The Moroney-Moloney team has been having a good run of late and could continue here.

She’s Not Wanted from the Farrugia stable will be a chance if she gets a run.

Race two is an interesting field for a maiden, with Kosala from the Bussuttin-Young stable looking a show, and The Rouseabout, trained by Cindy Alderson, coming off a great run at Sandown beaten only half a length, to be ridden by Jamie Mott, who has never ridden better.

French Girl looks good for the trifecta up to the 1400m today.

Race three is a tough race for punters with some well-bred runners, while race four sees Caruselle, for Ian Hutchins, first up from a spell, Soldiers Opera for the Farrugia barn and Run Pam Run to be ridden by in form Nikita Beriman, well placed here.

In race five, Michael Kent has Alpha engaged over 2200m after just one start for a win over 1600m. If anyone can do it Kent can, with the help of Beau Mertens in the saddle. Californiagrandcru and Smoking Bullet (for Cliff Murray) are tips for the trifecta.

Ripplebrook was disappointing at his first run from a spell, but Sharyn Trolove has no doubt got him on track again for race seven. Montevideo and Lady Annabel look like chances, with the latter perhaps giving Wayne Walters his first Sale winner.

Coral Rose was a late scratching last week but should have recovered for her assignment in the final race. Trainer Cindy Alderson has a good opinion of Miss Vixen and, with Ben Melham in the saddle, should run well.
