SALE-Maffra was out-classed by Mornington Peninsula during the second day of Melbourne Country Week cricket.

After winning their first match, the Sharks will need to defeat Ferntree Gully on Wednesday at Casey Fields to keep its hopes of making the provincial division semi-finals alive.

At Endeavour Hills on Tuesday, Sale-Maffra was bowled out for 149 in reply to Mornington Peninsula’s 219.

Mornington Peninsula captain Robert Wilson made 53 and Justin Grant 49. Jack Wrigglesworth and Jack Rietschel both claimed three wickets for Sale-Maffra, with two each from Brad Scott and Dylan Bolton.

Sale-Maffra’s chase was in trouble when it slumped to 4-27, before Wrigglesworth (24), Ben Jones (27) and captain Jack Tatterson (32) got starts but failed to convert it into a big score.

Robbie Lancaster took four wickets for Mornington Peninsula, while Billy Quigley claimed three of the four wickets.
