TWO junior tennis aces have been recruited by the Australian Open for the 2021 world-renowned event.
After volunteering as ballkids at the event in Melbourne earlier this year, Aden Best and Baxter Pearce, both from Sale, have been invited back to officiate.
A letter to the boys from Australia Open explained the AO ballkid program would be significantly different because of the complexities of COVID-19, and would involve offering high achieving ballkids an opportunity to be part of the 2021 team.
“Following a thorough assessment, we are delighted to offer you a returning position as an official ballkid,” they were told.
It was an exciting offer the Gippsland Grammar students could not turn down. This will be Aden’s second grand slam tournament and Baxter’s third.
