THE Autumn Classic will be the highlight of Sunday night’s Sale greyhound meeting.

The winner of the 440 metre event (race seven, 7.52pm) will take home $10,000.

Zachary was the most impressive of the heat winners, taking out his race by 12 lengths in 24.41 seconds. Zachary will be one of three dogs in the final prepared by Bill McMahon at Darriman.

The other heat was won by Assassinate, trained by Billy Stockdale at Hastings, 24.82, by half a length.

The 12-race program will also include the GRV Vic Bred 440m grade five final (race five, 7.17pm), with the winner receiving $3300.

The first race is scheduled for 5.57pm.

HEATS for the group one Australian Cup will be contested tomorrow night at The Meadows.

Earn The Answers, trained by Lyn Smith at Nambrok, will race in the third heat (race six, 8.18pm). Only the winners of the eight heats will progress to the final the following Saturday.

At The Meadows on Wednesday, Showtime Boomer, trained by Matt Clark at Briagolong, won a heat of 525m grade five series. Having won the track seven days earlier, Showtime Boomer had this race under his control, winning by six lengths.

That night at Cranbourne, Clark’s Curfew won a 520m grade five. On the same program, So Joe Mac came from behind to win a 311m race by half a length for Andrew Wood at Nambrok.

COLONEL Diesel, trained by Des Douch at Maffra, won the 400m maiden final at Warragul on Tuesday night. After winning his heat on debut last week, Colonel Diesel never looked beaten in the final, sprinting to an early lead to claim victory by three lengths. Following a win at Sale last week,

Alarm Response, trained by Matt Clark at Briagolong, won a heat of the 460m series.

Prime Time, trained by Corey Fulford at Maffra, third in his heat and will also advance to the next week’s final.

Flywheel Bella, trained by Sam Bye at Gormandale, was a start to finish winner in the 460m grade five damsels dash.

On Monday at Cranbourne, Got Girl won a 311m grade for Bev Proctor at Alberton West. Got Girl won by a neck from Calabrese Gino, who lunged late.
