Lakeview Lola wins Sale greyhounds final

LAKEVIEW Lola claimed a hat-trick of wins by taking out the 520 metre mixed grade six and seven final during Sunday night’s Sale greyhounds meeting.

The dog, trained by Monique Whelan at Metung, went to the early lead, and had the race in her keeping, finishing six lengths ahead of Defensible, trained by Matt Clark at Briagolong.

Last start Sale winner Bigsy won a 440m restricted win race for Dawn Johnston at Boisdale. In second place was Aussie Legend, trained by Leslie Hughes at Giffard.

Another 440m restricted win race was taken out by My Mate Damien for Cheryle Ragen at Kilmany, claiming a third victory from five starts. It was a tight race, with less than two second separating the first three dogs.

Dr Rozzie, trained by Bill McMahon at Darriman, led the 520m mixed grade four and five most of the way to win by a length from Do Good Davlin, trained by Wendy Neocleous at Hazelwood North.

The meeting began with Lakeview Bonnie, trained by Luke Whelan at Metung, dominating a 440m maiden, winning by eight lengths.

The race two 440m maiden was won by Coalville Jewel, trained by Rosalie Kerr at Caldermeade, finishing half a length ahead of Elmo Rose, trained by Jeff Chignell at Rosedale.

Riverbank Smokey, trained by John Musselwhite at Lindenow, won a 440m grade seven won by five lengths from Johnston’s Nathan Ryder.

The 440m free for all was won by Dream Wizard for Sean Lithgow at Devon Meadows, while Judge Hook, trained by Charlie Galea at Hazelwood North, won the 520m grade five.

Harlequin Rose, trained by Brendon Jones at Pyalong, took out a 440m grade five by a length, with California Blond finishing second for Susan Northway at Heyfield.

The evening ended with heats of the 440m grade five series, which were won by Handsome Jack (Geoff Mitchell, Spotswood) and Mr Neo (Robert Neocleous, Hazelwood North). The final will be at Sale this Sunday night.
