LITTLE separates the top three sides on the East Gippsland Hockey Association women’s ladder following the weekend’s matches.
Sale’s lead has been reduced to a points ratio of three, with second-placed Swan Reach only ahead of Maffra on goal difference.
Swan Reach defeated Sale 3-2 on Friday night at the Gippsland Regional Sports Complex.
Molly Ward scored a brace and Lisa James a goal for the visitors, while Sale’s goal came from the stick of Sarah Boag.
Maffra kept the pressure on Swan Reach for a top two spot going by defeating Maffra 5-2 on Saturday night, also at GRSC. Adelle O’Doherty scored two goals for Maffra, with one each from Jess Cull, Caitlin Frisina and Meg Mogridge.
Mikayla Blackshaw and Steph Bracher scored for Nagle.
Unable to field a full team because of injury, Wellington forfeited its match to Orbost.
IN the open competition, Sale defeated Swan Reach 2-1. Mitchell Paterson scored both Sale goals, while Josh Ward scored for the visitors.
Wellington lost at Orbost 3-0 on Saturday afternoon, with Kyle Findley, Tim Osborn and Muhammad Aslam Rana scoring for the home side.
Glenn Grant scored a hat-trick to held Nagle overcome Maffra 6-2. Shane Bartlett, Ren Crunden-Smith and Connor Thomson also scored for Nagle, while Maffra’s goals came from Lachlan and Nathan White.
ON Saturday, Sale will take on Maffra at GRSC, while Wellington will  travel to Bairnsdale to play Nagle, and Orbost will host Swan Reach.
