TWO locally-trained horses won at Moe on Monday, both a good odds.

Ripplebrook, trained at Bundalaguah and Sale by Sharyn Trolove, won a benchmark 58 race over 1619 metres.

The 10-year-old, ridden by Koby Jennings, was a $24.40 chance at the tote, but won by a neck from Barrington Manor. It the was gelding’s ninth win from 80 stars, and first victory in two years.

The next race, another BM58 race over 1619m, was taken out by Gracious Diva, trained at Sale by Susie Wells.

The five-year-old mare, ridden by Sheridan Clarke, was a $48.40 chance according to the tote, but she didn’t mind the soft track.

Gracious Diva was at the back early, worked her way around the field and picked up speed heading into the straight. Out wide going down the straight, the mare passed Sir Rockford late to win by three-quarters of a length.

It was Gracious Diva’s second win from 12 starts, having won at Sale in July.

Trolove and Jennings combined at the end of the day to see Lord Paramount finish second in a 1111m BM58. The six-year-old gelding made contact with Themoonsaballoon in the straight, but got free to just get second at the post.

Monday’s meeting was the last at the track before Moe Cup day on Friday, October 18.

Racing returns to Sale this Wednesday.
