RELATED: Sale College caught up in corruption inquiry School’s business manager faces IBAC
LETTER TO THE EDITOR:
AS you may be aware, the Victorian Independent Broad-based Anti-Corruption Commission (IBAC) is currently investigating the Department of Education and Training).
Sale College, along with several other Victorian schools, has been named for its alleged involvement as a conduit in the misuse of department funds.
I’m sure I speak for all parents in sharing how disappointed I am by the alleged conduct of some former department executives.
I would like to reassure the school community that the allegations concern the alleged misuse of central department funds, not funds allocated to our school or raised by our community.
I can assure you our students did not miss out on any opportunities because of our alleged role as a ‘banker school’.
Our business manager appeared as a witness at the IBAC hearings last Friday (May 8) and her evidence is now a matter of public record.
She continues to be a hardworking and professional business manager and has the support of our council.
As a council, we take our financial management obligations very seriously, and are committed to fulfilling them diligently on behalf of our school.
Sale College is a strong school and I know our teachers and parents remain 100 per cent focused on supporting our students to have the very best possible education.
