LETTER TO THE EDITOR:
THE ninth Wellington (Sale) Relay For Life, for the Cancer Council Victoria, has been scheduled to take place at Sale Greyhound Club in March next year, but at this stage this wonderful community fundraising event is in jeopardy.
The Relay For Life in Sale, thanks to the marvellous support of so many local people over the 15-year period since 2001, has raised in more than $1.1 million dollars for Cancer Council Victoria for research, education and support.
Many of the previous committee members, who have supported and worked so hard in the eight previous events, are unable to continue.
This means that without new, committed locals willing to join the committee to assist with organising the 2017 event, it may not be able to proceed.
As previous chairman of the Wellington Relay Committee, I still wish to be involved with this worthwhile committee, but because of other commitments, am unable to continue in this role.
Almost every day we hear of advancements gained as a result of research, in the quest for a cure for the many and varied types of cancer.
All involved are hoping for a world in which cancers can be cured one day.
People interested in joining the committee can phone Wellington Relay For Life coordinator Melissa Holland on 0438 586 727.
