LETTER TO THE EDITOR:
IN the article headed ‘Improvements needed to Gld rail services’ (Gippsland Times, page 10, February 21/2), Gippsland MHR Darren Chester ignores how he, as Infrastructure and Transport Minister, has punished Victoria in infrastructure funding allocations.
During the five years to 2020, New South Wales will get an average of $317 per person for federally-funded infrastructure spending, while Queensland will get $371 per person.
What does Victoria get?
Only $147 per person.
The Coalition has also imposed onerous rules on how it can be spent that which do not apply in other states.
It appears Victoria is being punished for being a Labor stronghold.
Mr Chester needs to explain why this outrageous and unacceptable disparity in federal funds for Victoria exists and should continue.
