Sale is looking a little neglected

LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

I RECENTLY had a wander around Sale shop areas, after overhearing a visitor voicing his opinion to his companion on how ugly the carpark area at the rear of Coles is and I agree.

This then led me to other areas for a fresh look at our surrounds where the Coles delivery bay and the chicken shop laneway merge on the small space of land between, noticing there is a dire need for something to be done to neaten up this hazard.

I’m sure everyone who uses this side lane is aware of its decrepit state, and I’m amazed no-one has complained of the pot holes, parked cars, delivery vans, loose stones, cracked concrete, narrow, uneven footpath, along with the unsightly dented bit of iron ‘screen’ that is there to block off an ugly storage container.

Visually, there is nothing inviting, pleasant or attractive here.

During my stroll, I spoke to another person, on holiday, and asked what they thought of the Sale shopping precinct.

The conversation stated the lack of any decent, different shops; nowhere to investigate or browse in so true.

All the available purchase areas are the regular supermarkets and warehouse usuals.

Other concerns were mostly the cheap, inexpensive, drab, general or commonplace ones that are generally everywhere in all suburbs.

I went into Gippsland Centre Sale and noted a lack of appeal and variety.

It’s a shame the Sale businesses lack a pride in having a tidy, neat and clean impression with their ‘out of sight’ areas, which could be remedied with a few hours work tidying up where the unwanted items are or a dab of paint needed. They could brighten the outsides up.

Appearances mean a lot, especially to visitors.

There is really no excuse for this state of unconcern and untidiness, simply because no-one bothers to notice or look around.

There seems to be no official personnel to make observations of these ‘let-go’ areas.

In the carpark area at the back of IGA, rubbish gathers in the vacant lot abutting the clocktower clinic, there are uneven pathways, potholes, overflowing skip-bins, weeds, and again nothing appealing or attractive.

Whose concern is this?

If not the jurisdiction of council, there needs to be someone to order the owners or possessors of these properties to tidy them up and be responsible for the upkeep.

There is a disrespect of our surrounds and a lax regard for the public, locals and visitors.

Please Sale businesses, rectify these uncared for areas.

It will benefit everyone.
