The 45th Plain English Speaking Award (PESA) State Heat was held at Gippsland Grammar’s Garnsey Campus on Tuesday, May 24.

The PESA is an opportunity for students aged 15-18 years to build self-confidence, extend their skills in oral communication, speech writing and research and speak to their peers from other schools on topics they are passionate about.

PESA adjudicators awarded Year 11 Catholic College Sale student Ellie MacGregor as the winner, while Year 10 student Georgia Steel, from Gippsland Grammar, was runner-up.

Catholic College Sale student Ellie has now been invited to the PESA State final in Melbourne.

Winners of the state final will continue to the national finals later this year.
