Drivers urged to take care

AN 18-year-old probationary driver was issued with an infringement notice by police after being involved in a single vehicle collision on the Maffra-Briagolong Rd about 8.30pm Wednesday night.

The female driver from Newborough lost control of the small sedan she was driving on a bend and crashed into trees on the left side of the north-bound lane.

The driver and her male passenger, aged in his mid- 20s, were taken to hospital by relatives for observation and were later released.

Wellington Highway Patrol Senior Constable Stacey Kronk said people needed to take care when driving this holiday season.

A 68-YEAR-old man will be charged on summons after he was involved in a single vehicle collision while allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol on Monday morning.

The single vehicle collision happened about 9.45am on the corner of Market and Macarthur Sts in Sale.

The man was not injured and was taken to Sale police station.

His license was immediately suspended and he will be charged on summons with exceeding the prescribed concentration of alcohol.

MAFFRA police are investigating the theft of two backpacks and a suitcase from the back of a utility in Johnson St, Maffra last Thursday, December 4, about 12.45pm.

Police say the occupants of the white Mazda utility parked the vehicle near Caf Latitude and left the vehicle for several minutes.

On return, the owners found that two Osprey back packs, one green and one red, and a grey suitcase had been stolen.
