Positive drug tests

THREE local drivers will receive infringement notices after they each returned positive readings to preliminary oral fluid tests.

Wellington Highway Patrol allege the male drivers, all aged between 20 and 25, returned positive readings for methamphetamines.

The drivers were intercepted between Friday night and Sunday night in the Wellington police service area.

Their tests will be sent to the forensic laboratory in Melbourne.

WELLINGTON Crime Investigation Unit is investigating a burglary at a residential address in Coongulla.

Police allege a white 1993 model Mazda flat tray utility, a three phase generator and other tools were stolen from the property between January 26 and February 1.

Police said the thief or thieves accessed the stolen items by cutting the locks off a shed.

People who witnessed suspicious activity or believe they have seen the stolen items are asked to phone Wellington Crime Investigation Unit on 5143 5000 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

LATROBE Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested two men over a recent spate of thefts from cars.

The 24-year-old and 19-year-old Latrobe Valley men have been charged with 81 charges relating to 31 incidents of motor vehicle thefts.

At the time of the offences, the vehicles were unlocked, had valuable items in clear view and were parked in residential estates.

The two men will face the Latrobe Valley Magistrates Court on Thursday, February 5.

Detective Senior Constable Ben Hodson from Latrobe CIU said the thefts had prompted police to remind the community about the importance of locking up.
