Positive drug tests

THREE drivers in the Wellington police service area allegedly returned positive readings to roadside oral fluid tests at the weekend.

Police allege one driver tested positive to cannabis, one driver tested positive to methamphetamine, and one driver tested positive to cannabis and methamphetamine.

The tests have been sent to Melbourne for analysis.

A 26-YEAR-old man has been issued with a penalty notice for failure to give way following a two vehicle collision at the intersection of the Princes Highway and Maffra-Stratford Rd on Sunday about 3.45pm.

Police allege the man was turning right onto the Princes Highway towards Sale and failed to give way to a vehicle travelling along the highway towards Stratford.

Police said no one was injured in the collision.

WELLINGTON Crime Investigation Unit is investigating a suspicious fire that burned about two hectares of a pine plantation near Stockdale on Sunday about 2pm.

Police would like to speak to people who saw a white sedan driving in the area before the incident.

BRIAGOLONG police are investigating a single vehicle accident on the Tinamba-Newry Rd at Tinamba about 1.10pm on Saturday.

Police said a 35-year-old male motorcyclist was taken to Sale hospital with serious injuries, then transferred to a Melbourne hospital.

The cause of the crash is being investigated by police.

TRAFFIC on the Sale-Maffra Rd was diverted for about an hour on Sunday night after boom gates at the level crossing near Sale became stuck.

Police said the incident was being investigated by V/Line.
