POLICE issued more than 16 infringement notices during the past four weeks as part of Operation Overwatch.
The operation, conducted predominantly around the Maffra area by Maffra, Stratford and Briagolong police, focused on driver distraction and wearing of restraints.
Police issued 13 infringement notices for vehicle occupants failing to wear seat belts and three infringement notices to drivers using mobile phones while driving.
Other infringement notices were issued for unlicensed driving and cyclists failing to wear bicycle helmets.
Police are reminding people the penalty for not wearing a properly fastened and adjusted seat belt is $303 and three demerit points, while the penalty for using a hand-held mobile phone while driving is $455 and four demerit points.
