A SEARCH and rescue operation was executed by police and the State Emergency Services in Licola over the weekend, after concerned family members reported a Traralgon man and his seven-year-old daughter missing about 6.30pm Sunday.
The pair was recovered by police helicopter two hours later, after severely underestimating the length of a kayaking trip from Licola to Cheynes Bridge, and seeking shelter in a makeshift hut.
They were taken back to Licola for ambulance assessment. Both were shaken, but deemed safe and well.
POLICE were called to the site of a car accident at Crooked River near Dargo late Saturday night.
A 4WD slid off the road when attempting to get around a felled tree, and unable to grip the wet track slipped down an embankment.
The vehicle was recovered by a commercial recovery service early Sunday morning.
Police attributed the accident to poor conditions.
POLICE are urging drivers to take care driving through hazardous and low visibility conditions such as dense fog, after a car driven by a 19-year-old female collided with a cow on the Upper Maffra Newry Road at 2.30am Thursday.
The Coongulla resident was admitted to Sale hospital with minor head injuries.
The cow was killed in the accident.
