Road work speed limits blitz

WELLINGTON Highway Patrol is reminding road users to slow down as directed by signs in areas of road works.

The unit is responding to a number of complaints received by concerned locals that exasperated road users are disregarding speed restrictions, and putting the lives of others in jeopardy.

Sergeant Luke Banwell said the patrol would be making a concerted effort over the coming weeks, particularly along the Princes Highway in Fulham.

“We understand the frustrations of road users around the works, but roadwork speeds are in place for a reason,” Sgt Banwell said.

“We will be enforcing the speeds not only for the safety of road users, but the safety of construction workers.”
