Suspicious fire in old dairy shed

SALE police are appealing for information about a fire that started in an unused timber and corrugated iron shed at a former dairy on Dawson St, Sale, last Wednesday, January 9.

The structure was fully alight and spreading to nearby grassland by the time emergency services were notified about 10.15pm, but the blaze was quickly controlled and extinguished by the CFA.

The shed, which is on the edge of town abutting residential dwellings and industrial buildings, was not inhabited, however police believe it may have been recently used.

They are appealing for information about who was using the site or area in recent times, and in particular anyone seen in the area at the time of the fire.

People with information should phone Wellington CIU on 5142 2200 or report anonymously to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
