Deep clean and contact tracing after RAAF base COVID-19 report

DEFENCE has confirmed a subcontractor who visited RAAF Base, East Sale, on June 26 tested positive to COVID-19.

A Defence spokesperson said it was advised of the diagnosis by the subcontractor’s company, and comprehensive contact tracing and a deep clean of the areas the subcontractor visited was undertaken.

The spokesperson said there were currently no positive cases of COVID-19 among Australian Defence Force members at the base, and there were no members in quarantine at the base.

In line with government advice, the spokesperson said Defence had implemented significant measures to ensure the health and safety of its personnel and the broader community.

“Defence is fully committed to adhering to the public health guidelines to minimise transmission of COVID-19, and is directly engaged with public health authorities to ensure we are taking measures to reduce transmission as early as possible,” the spokesperson reiterated.
