Splitting up regional Vic to return to ‘COVID normal’

THE ‘roadmap’ out of COVID-19 restrictions is unbalanced and will punish Gippslanders and Gippsland businesses unnecessarily, according to local politicians.

Last week in parliament, Gippsland South MLA Danny O’Brien called for Gippslanders to be allowed to support local businesses given the regions low number of cases – but under the state government’s plan to ease out of COVID-19 social distancing restrictions, that won’t happen for at least another two months – and even longer for some businesses.

Mr O’Brien said lumping Gippsland in with all of regional Victoria was unfair.
