Man interviewed over alleged assault in Sale

SALE police have interviewed a man in relation to an alleged assault in Gippsland Centre Sale on Monday.

It is believed the alleged attacker was tackled after the assault, and held by a customer who witnessed the in-store incident.

The customer told police he was in a store in the centre at lunchtime when he saw a man enter and “king hit” another man in the shop before running out of the store.

“Instinct kicked in and I gave chase,” the customer said.

The customer told the Gippsland Times he held the man until police arrived, and the alleged offender was taken to the police station for questioning.

The alleged victim was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Sale police confirmed the matter had been “dealt with”.
