A GRASSFIRE in Cobains on Monday afternoon was successfully extinguished before any structures were lost.
A grim reminder how fast fire can travel in dry conditions, the fire began about 4pm near Crofts Rd, and sped across paddocks and down the main drainage channel towards Monaghans Lane, before the CFA was able to put it out.
Not taking any chances, six local fire brigades, a plane and a helicopter worked quickly to put out the flames before they had the opportunity to run any further.
