THE abandoned Cobains Hall will be put on the market for sale.
Wellington Shire Council will sell the property on Bengworden Rd, next to Cobains Primary School, at or above market value in the open market.
Council owns the 4046 square metre property, with a 1950s HardiePlank-clad building containing a main hall, kitchen and amenities.
The building is considered to be a fair condition for its age.
Councillor Carolyn Crossley said the “fairly rudimentary hall” had not been used for many years.
“There have been many discussions around the community, nobody wants to put their hand up to utilise it, including the primary school,” she said.
“It’s in excess to our requirements, so the best use is to sell the property.
“It’s been rezoned, so it could be either used as rural or a permit could be issued to put a residence on it.”
