THE Sale Rangers won the Latrobe Valley under 13 baseball grand final last Sunday.
After a strong tussle against the Traralgon Redsox, the Rangers had the edge to take the flag 3-1.
The Rangers’ Brendan Laird received the association best-and-fairest award.
In the under 16s, Traralgon defeated Moe-Newborough 8-5.
The best-and-fairest award went to Blake Townsend of Traralgon.
THE senior grand finals will be played this Sunday at Churchill.
The Moe-Newborough Dodgers set-up an A grade decider against Traralgon with a 14-2 victory over Churchill in the preliminary final.
The Dodgers got off to a flying start with five runs in the first inning. The Braves’ defence was rattled early with errors costing them runs along with some good betting from the Dodgers.
The Dodgers continued in the second inning scoring three more runs with Luke Halket getting a double to start his perfect five hits from five at bats for the day.
The Braves bats were busy but failed to convert, leaving many runners on base, while the Dodgers continued to pile the runs on with three in the third and three in the fourth.
The Braves finally converted with two runs in the sixth but it was too late and the Dodgers ran out winners by 12 runs.
Best for the Dodgers were Halket, Ash Poxon and Dale Simpson, while Tim Bellerby and Matt Hardie were the Braves’ best.
In B grade, Churchill defeated Moe-Newborough 16-11 and will play Traralgon in the grand final.
Traralgon and Morwell will meet in the C grade grand final. Three runs in the final inning gave the Redsox a 14-13 win over Churchill in the preliminary final.
