FOR the second year in a row, 12-year-old Sale Golf Club junior champion Levi Sclater will play in the state schoolboys team at the national junior championships.
The event will be held at Wynnum Golf Club in Brisbane from November 9 to 13.
Eight boys and four girls have been selected in the Victorian team following selection trials at the Kooringal club in Melbourne for the under 12, 14 and 16 teams.
Levi, playing in the under 12 age group, shot a best score of 84 which placed him second in both the under 12s and 14s and third overall.
The Victorian team Levi played in last year finished second in the national championships and this year he’s hoping to go one better.
After returning from the national championships in Brisbane, Levi will be playing in the state primary schools finals at Kooringal on December 1.
Levi qualified for the state championships after winning qualifying rounds at Maffra and Bairnsdale.
He won the junior championship at Sale with rounds of 85 and 86.
Levi, a lightly-built junior, has loads of natural talent but still works hard on the practice range in regular sessions with his coach, Maffra professional Trevor Pridmore.
