VIZHAKA won the $50,000 Bairnsdale Cup on Sunday in a thrilling finish.
Ridden by Ryan Moloney, it was the second win in four starts for the seven-year-old gelding, trained by Monica Cid at Mornington.
Coming off a second placing a Wangaratta last month, Vizhaka was well-placed, in third at the 400 and 800 metre marks of the 1600m race, before taking the lead and holding off a fast finishing Morant, ridden by Chris Symonds and trained by Damien Williams, by a neck.
Vizhaka paid $8.90 at the tote for the win.
Snow Cover, ridden by Roger Booth and trained by Cameron Templeton, came in third place. Favourte Quick Snitzel came fourth.
