COUNT of Limonade won the $135,000 Moe Cup on Thursday.
The Mick Price-trained import carried the colours of owner OTI Racing to an upset win in the 2050 metre race.
Former international cricketer Simon O’Donnell is a director of OTI.
The five-year-old provided Price with his third win in the race when he turned in a tough performance with Glen Boss in the saddle to hold off Prince of Penzance and favourite Kenjorwood.
Count Of Limonade belied his $21 starting price to hold off the best-backed runner and the firm favourite and break through for his first win in Australia.
Boss brought him with a wide run rounding the home turn and raced to the front midway down the straight before fighting strongly over the final 100m. He scored by a neck from Prince Of Penzance and Kenjorwood two lengths away third.
