Rain serves up problems for tennis

RAIN caused all but three matches in Wellington tennis to be abandoned on Saturday.

Two of the completed matches came in senior section one, both at Sale with the home sides losing to Maffra opposition.

SALE X Factor had its first loss of the season, losing a close tussle against the Maffra Aces 63 games to 58. The Aces won five of the nine rubbers played.

Five of the nine rubbers were decided by two games.

Natalie Allman and Jill McAnulty each won their three matches for the Aces, while Nathan Wallace had three wins for Sale.

IN another close contest, the Maffra Queens had a 53-50 win over Sale Big Brother, claiming five rubbers.

Maffra’s Alecia Dignan was victorious three times as was Mark Di Pietro for Sale.

THE match between Heyfield and the Maffra Kings was abandoned with only four rubbers completed. Both sides won two rubbers each with Heyfield ahead on games 23-21.

SEASPRAY had the bye.

ON Saturday there will be a Maffra derby between the Aces and Kings, Sale Big Brother will host Heyfield and Sale X Factor will head to Seaspray. The Maffra Queens will have the bye.
