Uphill battle for Sharks

SALE-Maffra faces an uphill battle to defend its Gippsland Cricket League title after going down to Traralgon in round two on Sunday.

A 51-run opening stand between Brett Lanigan and Toby Leeds had Sale-Maffra on track to chase down Traralgon’s 9-211, but the Sharks then lost wickets at regular intervals to be bowled out for 148.

Brad Scott top-scored with 30, while Dylan Bolton finished unbeaten on 27.

Karl High led the bowling with 3-23, with Liam Hurst and Jack Rietschel the other multiple wicket takers.
