Basketball back this weekend

THE Country Basketball League season will resume following the mid-season break this weekend.

It will be penultimate round of matches before the semi-finals.

In fourth place on the men’s ladder, Sale still has four matches to play over the final two rounds, including a home double-header this weekend at the Gippsland Regional Sports Complex. Victory in two of their remaining matches should guarantee the Sonics a place in the final four.

On Friday night, the Sonics will play the Warragul Warriors from 7pm. The ladder-leading Warriors have only lost one of their 11 matches this season.

On Sunday, the Sonics will take on second-placed Western Port from 1pm.

With two matches to play this season, Maffra is in fifth place on the women’s table with seven wins.

In fourth place with nine victories, Churchill has completed its regular season matches and will be sweating on the results of Maffra and third-placed Western Port over the next two weeks.

This Sunday, the Eagles will be heading to Moe to play the Meteors from 1pm. A win for the Meteors will confirm their position on top of the table.
