THE Maffra Eagles women host Churchill in a Country Basketball League semi-final on Saturday night.
The Eagles finished the regular season in second position with 12 wins and four losses.
After winning only one of their first five matches, the Eagles have won their past 11. The Eagles were awarded a victory last weekend after Bairnsdale forfeit.
Tomorrow night’s opponent Churchill was the last team to defeat the Eagles in November. Before Christmas, the Eagles defeated the Blue Devils at home.
Tip-off at the Cameron Sporting Complex will be 6pm.
The other women’s semi-final tomorrow night will be between top side Korumburra and Traralgon.
DESPITE a 94-69 victory at Bairnsdale on Sunday, the Maffra men’s team finished the season in fifth place, four points outside a spot in the finals.
With a record of six wins and eight losses, defeats the previous weekend to finals-bound Moe and Traralgon cost the Eagles a semi-finals berth.
On Sunday, the Eagles out-scored the Bullets in three of the four quarters to record a 25-point victory. Andrew Quirk scored 22 points and Bill Pleming 20 for Maffra.
On Saturday night in the semi-finals, Moe will host Traralgon and Churchill will travel to Warragul.
