Sale on target in RVNL

SALE’S 19 and under team lifted in the second half to defeat Mid Gippsland 35-26 in round two of the Regional Victorian Netball League.

At Churchill last Friday, Sale was looking to further its success from round one, while Mid Gippsland was coming off a loss.

Sale came out hard in the first quarter with Mid Gippsland looking tired and sluggish from the first whistle.

Sale led by four goals at quarter-time and extended the lead to five, despite a stronger showing by Mid Gippsland in the second term.

In the second half, Sale pushed ahead to win by nine goals.

This Friday night at Churchill, Sale will meet Pakenham, which had the bye last week.

In the other match of round two, Gippsland was too strong for North Gippsland, winning 71-39.

Gippsland had a massive first quarter, leading 24-9 at the break. Gippsland powered through the rest of the game to win by 32.

IN the open division, Raymayer Gourley scored 44 goals in only three quarters in Gippsland’s 70-37 win over East Gippsland.

With only one goal between the sides at the first break, Gippsland steamed ahead in the second quarter, scoring 24 goals to five.

Gippsland continued to power through the rest of the game to win by 33.

Mid Gippsland defeated Morwell Indoor 57-44.

Mid Gippsland led by one goal after a close first term before it, led in defence by coach Tanya Budge, came out in the second quarter firing, scoring 15 goals to six.

Coming into the fourth quarter, Mid Gippsland lead 46-28, but appeared to lack the intensity seen prior. Morwell won the final term 16-11, but it was a little too late with the game and the victory going to Mid Gippsland.
