THE Sale Rodeo will be held again at the Sale Greyhound Club this Saturday night.
The event will be hosted by the Sale Football-Netball Club in conjunction with the greyhound club.
A star-studded line-up will be in contention, making this year’s rodeo the biggest so far.
Leading the line-up of four-legged superstars will be the current Australian bucking bull of the year, Eye Candy. The bull, bred at Upper Horton in New South Wales, last performed at the Xtreme Bulls in Dubbo, NSW, two weeks ago.
Eye Candy has never been ridden in a professional rodeo.
Also in the line-up of bucking stock is the horse Moves Like Jagger, regarded by saddle bronc riders as the toughest horse in Australia.
The bucking stock is brought to Sale this year by Gill Bros, Australia’s major rodeo suppliers.
It’s been more than 25 years since they have been to Victoria with their stock and have been multiple award winners with this stock around Australia.
The rodeo will feature competitors from all over Australia and is guaranteed to be full of thrills and spills.
Leading the line-up of competitors will be Jack Kidd from Croydon in far north Queensland.
Kidd currently leads the bareback ridings and is rated number one for bareback riding in Australia.
Joining him will be Lawson Nobbs from Rockhampton, Queensland; Clint Glass from Tamworth, NSW; and Brock Mulhall from Yerong Creek, NSW.
Local competitors will include former bull riding champion and all round cowboy, Paul Kenny from Rosedale.
Organiser Russell Green said this year’s Sale rodeo would be completely different compared to the first two.
Green said it would be a full rodeo package with every event, with miniature bucking ponies returning.
“It will include all the crowd favourites as well as the big screen,” he said.
Gates open at 4pm on Saturday, with live country music throughout the night.
Headliner act will be Paul Costa and band, supported be Aleyce Simmonds.
Entry cost will be $30 adult, $15 children aged over 10 years (under 10 free) and concession tickets will be available at the gate.
There will be amusement rides, stall holders and will be fully catered.
