SALE United’s run in the Latrobe Valley Soccer League’s Battle of Britain Cup came to a grinding halt on Wednesday night.
The Swans lost their semi-final to Moe United 6-0 at Churchill. The sides met in the league three days earlier, with Moe again victorious.
The Red Devils scored two goals in the first half before sealing the deal in the second, finding the back of the net four more times.
The Red Devils will meet Falcons in the final after the Birds defeated Morwell neighbour Pegasus 4-2 in the other semi.
In the reserves Shopwell Trophy, Sale United lost to Moe 1-0, while Falcons defeated Pegasus 7-5.
Fortuna booked the first place in the women’s Browne-Huizer Cup final with a 3-0 victory over Monash. The other semi-final will be played on June 23, with Tyers to play the winner of the quarter-final between Traralgon City and East Gippsland United.
The finals will be played on the AFL Grand Final Eve public holiday, September 30.
The LVSL took a break for the Queen’s Birthday long weekend. The home-and-away season will resume this Sunday, with Sale United hosting Traralgon City.
