THE East Gippsland Hockey Association semi-finals will be played on Saturday at the Bairnsdale World Centre, Wallace St.
The three local clubs will be represented in matches.
Defending open champion Sale will take on Swan Reach in the major semi-final. The sides met last weekend in Sale, with the home winning 2-1 to move to the top of the ladder on goal difference.
Nagle and Bairnsdale will play in the minor semi-final.
Bairnsdale booked its place in the finals with a 6-2 win at Maffra.
Ricky Duncan, Rohan Giblett and Edward Long each scored two goals for Bairnsdale, while Maffra, with only eight players, fought out the match strongly with Grant van Brummellen and Nathan White scoring a goal each.
In the women’s, Maffra will meet Swan Reach for the first place in the grand final.
Maffra last weekend overcame Bairnsdale in a high scoring match, 5-4.
Jessica Cull scored three goals for Maffra, supported by Caitlin Frisina and Kate Steinmann. Bairnsdale’s goals were scored by Jennifer Davis, Erin Doherty, Amy Hooper and Elise Malberg.
Swan Reach defeated Sale 8-0 to seal the minor premiership.
Sale will play Nagle in the knock-out minor semi-final.
In the under 18s, Sale will play Swan Reach in the major semi-final, hoping for a reversal of last weekend’s 4-3 loss.
Coming off a bye, Wellington will play in the minor semi against Bairnsdale, who defeated Maffra 7-0 with Lochlan Duncan scoring four goals, and one each from Rohan Giblett, Baily Stephenson and Tom Supplitt.
Sale and Maffra will meet in the under 15s major semi-final.
Top side Sale defeated Swan Reach 5-1 at home.
Second-placed Maffra had a strong 10-0 win over Bairnsdale. Jess Cull scored four goals, with Ben Harms, Adelle O’Doherty, Ben O’Toole, Nikolas Valette, Tim Valette and Lachlan White scoring one each.
In the under 13s, minor premier Maffra will play Nagle in the major semi, while Sale and Orbost will contest the minor semi. Sale defeated Swan Reach 3-0 last weekend.
