Back-to-back wins for Sale

THE Sale Sonics men have recorded back-to-back wins in the Country Basketball League.

The Sonics returned from Mornington with an 88-73 victory over the Western Port Steelers.

Billy Hughes scored 32, including 15 from beyond the three-point arch, while Mem Bektas scored 31, including 12 from the free throw line.

The Sonics scored the first seven points of the match to lead 20-13 at quarter-time, then surged away in the second term to take a 48-27 lead into the main break.

The Steelers reduced the deficit to 13 points by three-quarter-time, but the Sonics out-scored the home team in the final term to fin by 15.

Both Sale teams will host Traralgon on Sunday at the Bishop Phelan Stadium, with the women from noon and the men 2pm.

The Maffra Eagles men will return to action this Saturday night, when they host Churchill from 7pm. The Maffra women will have another weekend off.
